What a plumber costs in Epping

Published figures are rare in this trade. Ours are here because a quote you cannot compare to anything is not much use to you. These are entry-level 2026 Sydney rates. That covers the van at the door and the trade's hourly rate. Job-by-job figures sit on each service page.

01

Getting someone out: $0–$180

Zero when the job began on this page. Reach us some other way and the usual Sydney attendance fee applies, generally near the top of that band.

02

The hourly rate you will be quoted elsewhere: $100–$150

Business-hours market rate. A great many quotes are quietly assembled from it. Ours are not, and the note beneath these cards says why.

03

After hours, weekends and holidays: $180–$250

What the trade adds for after hours and weekend work. Our addition is nothing, because the price was fixed before we left.

04

A typical emergency repair: $250–$700

A single agreed figure to make a burst safe, clear a blocked line, or isolate a gas fault. No running clock and nothing appended afterwards.

05

Your fixed price: agreed first

Handed to you in writing before work begins. Should the scope change, everything pauses until you have approved a new figure.

Cards two and three describe the market, not us. An hour of somebody's time and a problem that has actually gone away are different products, and hourly billing only sells you the first one. We price the work rather than the hours, so the figure you approve is the figure you settle. And the certificate is part of the job rather than an extra, because a job without its paperwork is not finished. Where you already know what you need, the real figures live on the blocked drains, pipe relining, burst pipes and leaks, hot water and gas fitting pages.

The difference between a plumber and a licensed plumber.

Anyone can call themselves a plumber. A licensed one carries a NSW licence number, real insurance, and the legal accountability that comes with both, so when a gas job is certified or a repair signed off, it actually means something.

Licensed in NSW, insured in full, and out on these streets every week. Everything is done to the Australian Standards and backed by a written lifetime workmanship warranty.

Plumbing in Epping

There is a piece of paper attached to plumbing work in New South Wales that most homeowners have never heard of. A licensed plumber is required to lodge a Notice of Work with the regulator before starting regulated plumbing and drainage work, and to provide a Certificate of Compliance afterwards. That certificate goes to the property owner, and it is the record that a licensed person did the job. Once the wall is closed, a good job and a bad one look identical, and the paperwork is the only thing that still tells them apart. Across Epping and out to Macquarie Park and Rydalmere, a licensed local plumber is only minutes away, same-day and 24/7 for genuine emergencies.

Common plumbing problems we see in Epping

  • There is paperwork, and nobody knows it. A licensed plumber lodges a Notice of Work before regulated plumbing and drainage work and provides a Certificate of Compliance afterwards. Most homeowners have heard of neither.
  • Hot water systems giving out. In this water a tank that has stopped has lost its anode or burnt an element rather than silting up. Gas, electric, heat pump and solar, and we repair rather than replace whenever repairing is honest.
  • Ageing galvanised & earthenware pipe. Older homes in Rydalmere, Macquarie Park and Macquarie Park still run on steel and clay pipe that rusts, roots and splits over time.
  • Gas fitting & compliance. Cooktops, heaters and gas lines, with the compliance certificate handed over on the day. Our licensed fitters size it, install it and certify it in one visit.
  • Once the wall is closed, it all looks the same. Competent work and unlicensed work are indistinguishable to anybody looking at the finished room. The certificate is the only thing that still separates them.
  • And it gets asked for years later. At sale by a conveyancer, or after an incident by an insurer. Both arrive long after the tradesperson is contactable and the record is hard to rebuild.

Still have a question? Licensed plumber van servicing Epping
How much does a plumber charge per hour in Epping?

The commonly quoted band is $100 to $150 an hour across Sydney. True enough, and no help when you are trying to work out what a job will cost, because the hours are the part nobody can predict. We fix the job price instead.

How fast can you get to me in Epping?

Genuine emergencies get a sixty minute target to the door, in Epping and out through Macquarie Park and Rydalmere, at any hour on any day of the week.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

Charges are stated on the phone before we leave, so the invoice contains no news. Coming through this page, there is no attendance charge in the first place.

How do I know you're a licensed plumber?

NSW Licence 368473C. Look it up on the Fair Trading register, which takes about a minute and is worth doing for anybody who comes onto your property. Plumbing without a licence is against the law in this state and it will void a home insurance claim.

My hot water system failed and it isn't that old. Why?

Soft water. In hard-water parts of the world a cylinder silts up and that is what finishes it. Sydney's supply does not do that. Instead the sacrificial anode inside is consumed protecting the steel, and once it is gone the tank starts to corrode. Or an element gives out. Both of those are often repairs rather than replacements.

What is a Certificate of Compliance and why should I keep it?

It is the document a licensed plumber provides after regulated plumbing or drainage work, stating that the work complies. It goes to you as the property owner. The reason to keep it is that it is the only durable evidence the work was ever done by a licensed person. Once a wall is closed, competent work and unlicensed work are indistinguishable to anybody looking at the room, and the certificate is what still tells them apart in ten years.

Do you work on heritage and conservation-area homes?

There is a second document in the same system, and it happens before the work rather than after it. A licensed plumber is required to lodge a Notice of Work with the regulator before starting regulated plumbing and drainage work. Almost no homeowner has heard of it, and it is worth knowing about for one reason: a tradesperson who is unfamiliar with the obligation has told you something about how they operate.

When would anybody actually ask me for this?

At the two worst possible moments. At sale, when a conveyancer wants evidence for work that shows on the property. And after an incident, when an insurer wants to know who did it and whether they were licensed. Both of those arrive years afterwards, long after the tradesperson is contactable, and reconstructing the record at that point ranges from difficult to impossible. It costs nothing to ask for the certificate on the day and put it with the property papers.

What areas around Epping do you cover?

The whole Epping LGA and every suburb around it: Macquarie Park, Rydalmere, Macquarie Park, Rydalmere, Macquarie Park, Rydalmere, Macquarie Park, Macquarie Park and more.

Hot water systems we service and replace

More of our work is hot water than anything else. In this housing that means plenty of electric storage, gas on properties connected for it, and continuous flow where a tank had to come off the floor. These are the makes we handle. Repairing and replacing hot water systems is most of what we do here, and we are straight about what each job costs and the age at which a unit stops being worth fixing.

We service and replace these systems as an independent licensed plumber. We are not an agent for, or endorsed by, any of these manufacturers.
